Probably based on Whitakers department store in Bolton. ‘Christmas’ is wrongly spelled. Françoise was still learning English at the time. No-one in the picture seems to be actually shopping. It has the same detachment between people and the goods as ‘Toy shop‘ (Brussels, 1944).
